Benning's Green Tint Pattypan Squash - Seeds
Latin name: Cucurbita pepo
Benning's Green Tint is a cultivar of pattypan (or scallopini) squash, with a unique flying saucer shape. A non-runner squash, it produces numerous fruits from 1 to 4.5 lbs in size, pale green in colour on the vine and creamy white when ripe. The flesh is white, thick, firm and very similar to zucchini. Picked young (10-15 cm in diameter), they are prized by chefs for their quality and often used as mini vegetables. Cooked, they are aromatic with a hint of artichoke and a slightly musky scent. Easy to grow and naturally very disease resistant. Picked at full maturity when the skin has thickened, they can be kept for several months and remain excellent.
