Hair Detox AKA Transitioning from Chemical to Natural
If you're using traditional shampoos and are thinking about transitioning to sulfate-free shampoo bars, you're in the right place.
Going natural can be surprising, and you might find that the first few times you wash your hair with a natural shampoo you're left with a strange feeling... Well, don't worry that's completely natural! In fact, the chemicals contained in your "traditional" shampoo may contain several agents, such as silicones, which coat your hair fibers, leaving it feeling smooth and looking shiny. So, the first few washes with a natural shampoo will actually be stripping the layer of silicone so that on future washes, your natural product can penetrate your hair, leaving it looking healthier and you feeling happier.
We like to think of this as a hair detox, you'll simply need to wash your hair daily for 2-3 days using any of our shampoo bars. Or for a quicker detox, try this:
- Prepare a paste of 10g of baking soda and 30g water.
- Gently massage into your hair and then rinse.
- Do not apply a shampoo afterwards. Instead, apply your favourite natural moisturizing mask or one of our solid conditioner bars to deeply nourish your hair.
- The next time you wash your hair, simply wash and condition with your new natural products.
We've only tested this detox out on natural, uncoloured hair. To learn even more about the topic and discover new natural hair care tips, follow @ninaturelle and @labelleboucle on Instagram.
